Do I have to have a mobileme account to use iweb?

i want to use iweb to create a website and even use it in my blog. but do I need to use the mobile me hosting services to use it? or can I use other hosting services? thanks

You can use another hosting service if you prefer. I use mobileme and really like it. Also, they provide a lot of space! The transition from iWeb to Mac’s hosting is seamless. Updates are extremely easy. Good luck!

Help creating a server!!!?

ok I have an iMac G5 Intel with Mac OS X Leopard. I want to partition it so it’s half personal computer and half server. I want to use the tserver for web hosting and file sharing. I have some of the Server admin tools from Apple but not the full release of Mac OS X Server. if there any way that I can make my website available over the entire web with just this computer (basically how do I create a server with it )

You can actually download free Web Server software from download.com; which you can specify a folder on your hard drive to be the ‘Web’ folder with port 80 directing to it so your IP address becomes your URL. Check it out.

I designed a website using iWeb for Mac – what’s next?

I created a basic webpage to advertise the apartment complex I own. I used iWeb because it’s super user friendly and easy to use and design. I can’t decide now whether to go with MobileMe or to upload to purchase a domain/hosting service such as GoDaddy.com and DreamHost…which is the easiest? I know with mobile me I will get a web.me/com/username site, which I can add a domain to I guess so that www.name.com can direct to the site as well.

I do not know which is better or easier.

My suggestion would be to go to the sites and find out more information about the hosts and their plans, etfc. Also check out how easy they say it is to do things.

Another thing is, there are websites where people talk about the experiences in such and such host, etc. Have a look at some of these sites to find out if anyone has had bad expereiences, etc, or if people jhave said how easy it is to do things.

This way you may get a better understanding of the hosts, or even find a better host to use.
